We have reached late august and that means kissing the holidays goodbye and getting back to work. This is the time when some of us may experience the so-called “post-vacation blues”, a syndrome that is characterized by intense feelings of apathy and sadness caused by changes in our schedules and habits. Here are a few tips to help you face your return to work in the most effective way possible as well as to make it much more endurable.
1- Organization is of the essence. When faced with a back log of work, it is best to avoid feeling stressed out and to begin to organize from day one. The idea is to spread the most urgent tasks out little by little while pushing the less urgent ones into the background.
2- Short-term planning. Relating this point to the previous one, it is worth not facing long-term challenges, but rather, to focus on the present. However unpleasant the idea may seem to you, your vacations are history and they will not be back for a few months.
3- Enjoying your free time. Even though you have less free time than during your vacation, you must make the most of your free time to engage in your hobbies, meet with friends or enjoy the great outdoors. Playing sports is also a good idea to build up energy.
4- Finding motivation. You should look for something especially motivating in your daily life that helps you feel good. Sports, hobbies, a good movie or a meal in your favorite restaurant… anything that will improve your mood.
5- Team building to grow together. Another great way to face the struggle of getting back to work is to organize a team building meal to share your resolutions and challenges for the new season, or even to share experiences from your last holidays.
If this is your choice, we have private rooms for company meals available at El Principal de l’Eixample. We are waiting for you!
