Each and every one of us laugh at least once every day. We laugh about absolutely everything, since one of the features of laughter is its lack of limits. A fit of laughter happens when somebody explain a joke or something funny, when we are involved in a comic situation or just when something, without any specific explanation, make us laugh. But, why are there things we find funny?
One of the easiest things to get us a smile is, in general, knowing that we have common things with other people that we rarely explain. The humor mood appears when something in the world around us, we think or hope it will be a certain way, are distorted. Does this have something to do with cuisine?, you’re wondering. The humor, like the gastronomy, is a cultural thing, but that’s not the reason why we’re talking about this.
For Wednesdays 8th, 22nd and 29th of July, El Principal de l’Eixample launches a new proposal for musical theater in small format. With the same spirit of ‘Espectapes‘, ‘Acústic Broadway’ is a compilation of the most unknown songs played in Manhattan’s theater, accompanied by a touch of humor and little stories, anecdotes and reflections.
This time we changed the library for the terrace of our restaurant to hear an acoustic concert where various musical themes of the last decade, such as ‘The book of Mormon’, ‘Next to Normal’ versioned, ‘9 to 5’ or ‘Avenue Q’. Songs themselves tell stories. Each number is based on shared key comical everyday situations. Thus, from the public you can meet a lot of small stories played as monologues.
It will be the first time ‘Acústic Broadway’ plays outdoors, after their shows at Círcol Maldà and Molino Barcelona theatres. The main voices, Oriol Burés, Victor Gomez Penalver and Berta Laura Ventura, plays with new songs and directed by Daniel Angles, Critics Award for Best Musical in Barcelona for ‘Above all things’.
For only 20€ you can enjoy the show, make a delicious cocktail and get fit: experts say that humor reduces stress, keeps us healthy mentally and even makes us smarter. Barcelona never stops and El Principal de l’ Eixample either!
